On August 29, 2021, the members of Calvary Baptist Church voted to accept the call of Rev. Melvin Thomas. Jr. as our new pastor. Rev. Thomas is ordained in the Methodist and AMEZ churches, as well as an ordained AMEZ Traveling Preacher. He has previously served as the Discipleship Pastor at Trinity Wesleyan Church of Allentown, the Pastor of St. Paul AMEZ Church in Gettysburg,, and as the Associate Minister of St. James AMEZ Church of Allentown. He has also been the Director of the Mid-Atlantic Conference Men of Zion Men’s Ministry as well as the Director of Harrisburg District Sons of Varick Men’s Ministry.
Rev. Thomas comes from a family of Baptist preachers. He is passionate and enthusiastic about helping people build a personal faith perspective and relationship with God. As you will see in this brief biography, Rev. Thomas has been a dedicated servant to Christ and to diverse groups of people in many different capacities that have allowed him to “Grow People’s Lives.” He lives with his wife Joan in Trexlertown, PA. They have two sons and two daughters.
