From the Pastor's Desk: The Time of Harvest
Calvary Baptist friends and family,
Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Well, it’s almost over, the summer is quickly coming to an end. As vacations and leisure events become more and more distant let not the presence of the Almighty God be the same. As we enter into the fall months, we will focus on the importance of bringing in the harvest. We will not just focus on the harvest of physical resources but also the spiritual harvesting of those souls that need shepherding. The book of Matthew, in the ninth chapter, teaches us the importance of our public witness and sharing the word of God with all that we encounter. To the shy and introverted saints, this proposition may seem unnerving and difficult. But I would like to remind you that our non-verbal communication skills are the most effective way to express the love of Christ in our lives. Be diligent to acknowledge everyone with a smile and a pleasant gesture, and say hello even to the stranger. Be helpful when possible and always take the opportunity to ask somehow are they doing. May God Bless and Keep you. May He strengthen you to work in the vineyard during this time of harvest.
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
- Matthew 9:35-38 NIV
