From the Pastor's Desk: Come GROW
Dear CBC friends and family,
I greet you in the name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. First I would like to say happy summer! I pray that all of you have had the opportunity to enjoy the warm weather and enjoy time with family and friends. We are more than halfway through this calendar year and will now begin our third quarter ministry focus which will be: Come Grow. The Bible not only teaches us about the importance of discipleship and growing to the Kingdom of God as the Spirit would lead. It also teaches us about the importance of spiritual growth. As I reflect on Peter’s first epistle the 2nd chapter, I consider all that we have been through; the calamities, violence, and changes that our nation has endured. Certainly, during times of turmoil people often turn to an outward expression of their feelings rather than looking to God for guidance. Peter speaks to the churches in Asia Minor as they similarly endured challenges. I pray for a spirit in this church that like newborn babies we will continue to crave the pure spiritual milk that can only come through a connection with God. Additional growth is fostered through fellowship with one another and ongoing study. Join me this summer at CBC worship service, Bible Study, Sunday, and VBS for children (July 18-22 at 6 pm) as we work to GROW in the Lord through our faith and desire to get closer to him. May God bless and keep you. I look forward to seeing you at CBC.
Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good. - 1 Peter 2:2-3 NIV
